SmartCap’s patented EEG sensors and independently validated algorithm remains at the heart of their latest innovation, but the Life product suite boasts an array of new features that opens up a range of new applications.
SmartCap’s legacy of providing in-vehicle early warning alerts are now accompanied by a Smartphone application that receives the information from the LifeBand wearable in real-time, via Bluetooth. For the first time, workers can monitor their alertness anywhere, anytime. The Life App also provides the user with personal reports and progress tracking to support wellness initiatives.
SmartCap’s innovators were passionate about crafting a piece of technology that would further empower users to manage their own fatigue and give companies the broadest spectrum of data possible. Management can now use LifeHub, SmartCap’s cloud-hosted analytics suite to observe company-wide holistic trends and use real data to complement their approach to managing risk.
The LifeBand is more comfortable than the first-generation SmartCap product and has an inbuilt battery that lasts 7x longer.
SmartCap Technologies Chief Technology Officer and the inventor of the unique SmartCap algorithm Dr. Daniel Bongers believes that Life is a huge step forward.
“Life really takes our core technology to a whole new level.” Dr. Bongers said.
“Our vision was to allow individuals to manage their fatigue no matter where they are, so they can get home safe every day. To see this vision come to life has been extremely exciting and so far, the feedback from our customers has been tremendously positive.”

PRESS RELEASE: SmartCap joins forces with Vareli Tecnac to tackle fatigue in India’s mining industry22nd December, 2016
Brisbane, QLD Australia – 22 December 2016-SmartCap Technologies, the thought leaders in driver fatigue, are pleased to announce our new partnership with India’s leading IT solution provider Vareli Tecnac as our distributor to the Indian mining market. With our shared focus on providing innovative technologies to this growing region, SmartCap & Vareli hope to have a strong influence on the mining industry.
In recent times, India’s mining industry has progressed with investment in technologies that prioritize worker’s safety and wellness, reduce risk, and improve operating performance. Both Vareli and SmartCap recognize a need in the market for accurate wearable technology that eliminates microsleeps and ultimately reduces the number of fatigue-related incidents and fatalities in the workplace.

16th June, 2016
On April, 28, 2016 SmartCap was designated as one of Gartner’s “Cool Vendors in Wearable Electronics for Enterprise, 2016”.
“We at SmartCap are proud and honored to be listed in Gartner’s ‘Cool Vendors in Wearable Electronics for Enterprise 2016’ said Dush Wimal, CEO of SmartCap Technologies. “The growth of the wearables technology sector will play a vital role in employee health and safety in the future. While SmartCap is a ‘Cool’ product, it plays a very important role in making sure that the wearers of SmartCap get #HomeSafeEveryday.”
As indicated in the report by analysts Angela McIntyre, Michele Reitz, Wm. L. Hahn, Annette Zimmermann, Olive Huang and Tuong Huy Nguyen,” The vendors selected for this report have innovative technology, but are above the media hype created by other vendors that make claims of hardware capabilities years before they are ready for practical use. Because vendors highlighted in this report are less often in the popular media, they may be below the radar of CIOs considering wearable devices.”
Mr Wimal says “This is also true in the fatigue monitoring space. There are a number of camera based technologies measuring symptoms of fatigue or counting microsleeps and alerting the operator after the fact. These technologies not only have a very high rate of false alarms, but customers often find the operator’s decision making capabilities and reaction times are severely impaired by the time an alarm is generated. If you look beneath the hype, it is also a well-documented fact that a person who is in a fatigue state experiences microsleeps with their eyes open. The camera based technologies fails to detect these microsleeps, which puts the operators at risk.”
SmartCap is the only fatigue monitoring technology in the world that has been independently verified to have a greater than 98% accuracy (not achieved by any other competitor) and also provides the earliest possible alarms to prevent the operators from ever having a microsleep. World class organisations and the market themselves are far more aware of the differences between the technologies which has resulted in a number of key customers replacing their camera based fatigue technologies with SmartCap.
